Google Photos AI features coming to iPhones and iPads for free!

Starting May 15th, Google is extending AI capabilities to all Android and iOS users. The Google Photos app will now provide enhanced AI editing features to iPhones and iPads, regardless of subscription status. This expansion grants users access to a comprehensive suite of robust tools, including Magic Editor, Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, and more, at no extra cost.

Previously, features such as Magic Eraser and Editor were restricted to Pixel users or accessible on any Android or iOS device with a Google One subscription.

Dina Berrada, Director of Product Management at Google Photos, underscores the significance of these tools in a blog post. The inclusion of Magic Editor for free empowers users to effortlessly enhance their photos. Whether it’s refining blurry shots with Photo Unblur or transforming images with Magic Editor, users now have access to a full array of photo editing tools without additional fees.

Here’s a comprehensive list of Google Photos AI features now available for your iPhone and iPad, completely free of charge:

Magic Editor

Utilizing cutting-edge generative AI technology, the Magic Editor stands out as a premier feature within Google Photos AI toolkit. Initially exclusive to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, this intuitive editor is now accessible to all Android devices, including iPhones and iPads. Seamlessly execute complex edits with simple actions, whether it’s repositioning subjects or adjusting sky colors, all with remarkable ease.

Magic Eraser

Say goodbye to unwanted elements in your photos with the Magic Eraser feature. This powerful tool enables you to effortlessly remove distractions ranging from background bystanders to intrusive objects like vehicles or mountains. Not only does it erase these elements, but it also seamlessly blends the background for a polished final result, such as eliminating a distracting power line from an otherwise serene landscape.

Photo Unblur

Don’t let blurry photos dampen your cherished memories. Photo Unblur, as the name suggests, employs advanced machine learning algorithms to analyze and sharpen your blurry photos, restoring clarity and detail. Perfect for salvaging those spontaneous moments you can’t recreate, particularly when capturing snapshots of your beloved furry companions.

Portrait Light

Elevate your portrait photography with Portrait Light, a revolutionary feature that allows for post-click lighting adjustments. Correct harsh or uneven background lighting, soften shadows for a more flattering appearance, and customize the direction and brightness of light to craft the perfect lighting scenario for your portraits. Whether refining background lighting or enhancing facial features, Portrait Light offers unparalleled versatility to enhance your portrait photography.

In addition to the array of AI features now available for free on Android and iOS platforms, Google Photos is offering 10 Magic Editor saves per month to all users. Should you find yourself needing more saves, there are options available. Pixel device owners and subscribers to a Premium Google One plan (2TB and above) will enjoy additional access to Magic Editor saves. This ensures that users have the flexibility to maximize their editing capabilities based on their individual needs and preferences.
